Includes: O Deutschland hoch in Ehren, a piece from 1859 that came into its own in the twentieth century (particularly in 1914 and 1944-45) when it served as a "Fatherland in danger" type of song calling on German manhood to valiantly defend the soil of Germany so that it may "never be forced under the yoke"; the Pommernlied (the “Song of Pomerania“,  describing that ancient province's dark woods and white, rolling sand dunes washed by the waters of the Baltic sea ); the Schlesierlied (the “Song of Silesia“, a piece that has persisted as part of the standard repertoire of German folk songs describing that richest of Prussian provinces where "we will meet again on the banks of the Oder" ); Heimat deine Sterne; Die Gedanken sind frei (“My Thoughts Remain Free“, a piece celebrating the human spirit standing invincible before the forces of tyranny, written by none other than Heinrich Hoffmann von Fallersleben, author of the Deutschlandlied); Der Gott, der Eisen wachsen liess (Ernst Moritz Arndt’s stirring battle song from the Wars of Liberation [1813-1814], calling on German men to take up the sword and fight for liberty as God intended when he "bade the iron to grow" ); Tief drin im Böhmerwald (“Deep in the Bohemian Woods”); Kein schöner Land in dieser Zeit; Oberschlesien ist mein liebstes Heimatland, Nichts kann uns rauben and, in conclusion, the complete Deutschlandlied.
